User Research

We conducted contextual interviews with current students and tutors to learn how their life looked at the moment and if they had any problems. Based on this research, we created personas. Here is a brief preview of them.

Problems

KATARINA-THE-STUDENT

  1. Scheduling appointment with a tutor was difficult in the current app and often it didn't work at all.
  2. Tutoring wasn't very helpful. Either tutors were not qualified for certain tasks, or there was not enough session time.

ERICA-THE-TUTOR

  1. Doesn't have her schedule online. She has to come to the office to learn who her appointments with and when.
  2. Doesn't know beforehand what a student needs help with. Therefore, has cannot prepare.

Solution

The solution is based on both the Tutoring Center requirements and user research. The first version of the app is mostly focused on Katarina-the-student. The goal was to simpify scheduling experience and to improve educational experience.

Tutors will be getting email notifications about their meetings and in the future they will be able to chat with students who scheduled appointments.

Scheduling process is divided into granular steps
